Plan to be happy
"Happiness does not come through any mere forms and ceremonies; it has to be planned for, lived for, sacrificed for, prayed for, ofttimes suffered for. Home happiness in the incense that rises from the altar of mutual self-sacrifice. What men and women find in life depends on what they are themselves. The same skies are dull and laden to one, and glorious with their own deep wonderful blue to another". (Dr. J.R. Miller, Inspirational Talks for Youth, 1941)
Oh my, my...Could this be any clearer in its truth? I can't tell you how often people are able to overcome the difficulties of this world when they just change their mindset. Happiness is a choice that needs to be met daily and, like it states above, worked for. Often times we meander through life waiting for opportunities that will make us happy and painting a picture of what that looks like, instead of just letting happiness exist in all aspects of our life. See, the world does a pretty good job of telling us what happy looks like, and this propaganda is engraved into our hearts and we, quite literally, believe that happy has to fit into this very complex, expensive universal mold, and yet, it is quite simple.
Happiness is simple....
A simple life, a clean life, a life filled with gratitude defines what true happiness should be. What if we were to change the word happiness to love? "Happiness is only another name for love; for where love exists in a household, there happiness must also exist, even though it has poverty for its close companion." People are quick to forget about the great purpose of this journey, which is to find their true and grand design. We were created spiritually first, and we are heirs to divinity. Happiness is knowing that everything that we go through in this life is for our experience, so that we can grow with compassion toward others. Happiness is understanding that no good deed goes unnoticed. Happiness is finding joy in all the blessings that the universe shares with us. Happiness is being an agent unto ourselves and that we are masters in our own right, talented and beautiful beyond capacity. We all have something to offer our neighbor, but it depends on our heart and what kind of perspective we live by. If we are critical of ourselves, then we will judge others accordingly. If we think that happiness is not an everyday occurrence but more so a special event, then we will always find ourselves deflated by the ever constant challenges that are placed in our paths. Happiness is the vehicle to love. If we are happy with ourselves then we can see happiness in all things in our lives, we can be grateful, and we can love others. That is the greatest commandment and this is where we can be most effective in our lives as we strive to plan for happiness each and every day, we too can effect great change in the lives of others.
