Ten Minutes

Today I decided to try something new. I like going on new adventures and so I am setting sail. I realized that most of the time the "to-dos" I have in my mind take about ten minutes to start, to finish or to do completely. So, I am doing the ten minute challenge. I have wanted to work out for a while, play the piano, blog, and read my scriptures in the morning. So, I limit myself to ten minutes per activity and..." voila!" I feel so much better. Even if I don't get into that particular activity as deeply as I would like,I still started or completed something.

The best part about it is that I can still go about my day and not dwell on it! It's so great!

I highly recommend it for those of you that have a list of things that you have desired to start or complete that is a mile long. I motivate myself by saying "Ten minutes today is more than I was doing yesterday!". I even started teaching myself how to play church hymns on the piano (Okay I did that in 15 minutes)! I know that I'm not going to become Mozart but I can develop a talent today, I can take care of myself today, I feel like I can do anything if I can dedicate ten minutes to it. My realization is that I won't get those ten minutes back ever, and so I am trying to be proactive with my time. My mantra this week is "I can do anything in ten minutes!". I am so happy, I hope we can all remember how precious, creative and wonderful we are and that we can become and do anything in this life if we just start. Live a life of intent and real purpose and you shall have joy!

“Living with ‘real intent’ means understanding the ‘why’ and being aware of the motives behind your actions. Socrates said, ‘An unexamined life is not worth living.’ Ponder how you spend your time and ask yourself regularly, ‘Why?’ This will help you develop the ability to see beyond the moment. It’s far better to look ahead and ask yourself, ‘Why would I do that?’ than to look back and say, ‘Why, oh, why did I do that?’ If the only reason why is that God wants you to, that’s reason enough.” (Randall L.Ridd, January 11, 2015, devotional for Young adults, BYU Idaho.)
This is an hour long devotional, but I found a 5 minute video that gives you the gist of this amazing talk. It is well worth your time.
